More about Ukuleles – Tuning a Ukulele
Stringed instruments need to be ‘tuned’ in order to sound ‘consistent’ and ‘correct’ This involves changing the pitch of each string to a particular pitch initially (when first strung or restrung) and then checking every time the instrument is played for correct tuning. Ukulele’s have nylon strings which stretch with use (particularly when 1st put on the instrument) so tuning can ‘change’ quite a lot. All stringed instruments have tuning pegs, which are rotated to either raise or lower the pitch the string.
